10DLC Brand & Campaign Registration

The purpose of 10DLC Brand and Campaign Registration is to verify who is sending SMS messages and what type of messages are being sent. This helps U.S. mobile carriers reduce spam, fraud, and message filtering while improving message delivery for legitimate businesses.

10DLC registration is part of industry-wide messaging compliance standards supported by U.S. mobile carriers and required under regulations overseen by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) numbers are standard local phone numbers approved by mobile network operators for A2P (Application-to-Person) SMS messaging. Carriers introduced 10DLC to enable businesses to send compliant application-based messaging while maintaining better oversight of messaging traffic.

Approval to send A2P messages over a long-code number requires:

  • A verified brand registration (identifying the business sending the messages)
  • An approved messaging campaign (describing the purpose and content of the messages)

Mobile network operators now expect all A2P messaging to occur over registered 10DLC routes. Messages sent from long code numbers that are not associated with an approved 10DLC campaign are considered unregistered traffic and may be blocked or filtered by carriers.
